One
Arrival
in Saluzzo :
morning dedicated to discovering the city which is the seat of the
medieval Marquisate. Architectural jewels of noteworthy beauty
are enclosed within its narrow alleys. Visit to an artisan’s
workshop.
Lunch
on your own.
In
the afternoon, visit to the castle
of Manta, a late-Gothic jewel, with extremely well-preserved
frescoes which are among the most beautiful of the European Gothic
courts. Afterwards, visit to a wine cellar in the area which
produces the celebrated Pelaverga
Colline Saluzzesi.
Dinner
featuring typical specialties of the Piedmontese tradition.
Overnight
stay.
Day
Two
After
breakfast transfer to Crissolo and Pian
del Re for a visit to the source of the River Po and the
surrounding peat bog. Free time for a stroll around Lake Fiorenza.
Typical
Piedmontese lunch at a farmhouse.
In
the afternoon, continue onwards towards the Abbey of Staffarda
and its grounds. Possible visit to the Abbey.
In
the late afternoon, “merenda
sinoira” (a late-afternoon meal based on wine and local dishes)
in a local farm tourism setting.
